#tagLekwatsaSG: Tatay and Taglet’s First Time in Singapore

Last May, Jeff had to attend another Lego Serious Play training/meet up in Singapore. And since my head office is also in Singapore, we decided that we tag along again. Because why not? Haha!

This time we stayed at Strand Hotel in Bencoolen. The hotel is perfectly situated somewhere down Orchard Road and near YMCA and Cathay Cinemas. It is along Bencoolen Road, which apparently is under construction. They’re making a train station underneath the road! Jeff mentioned this to me, but we never bothered to research. I thought it’s just a small scale construction, and knowing SG, they just do it for a short time. So I was surprised to see a full-blown construction site in front of the hotel. Thinking about it, the Asakusabashi Airbnb and then this, maybe I should start looking for places to stay in instead of Jeff haha! (Actually, I found us an Airbnb for our upcoming trip in Hong Kong this October, and I hope it’s good.)

Taglet uses cloth diapers, but we had to switch to disposables again (we did when we were in Tokyo) because there’s no way to wash them in the hotel. Good thing he’s not allergic to disposables.

The day after we arrived, we met with our friends Harold and Lavinia. Harold is part of the Filipino Dragons in Singapore and they have a game (I don’t know what you call it) in Marina Bay.

We also met with my cousin, Ate Jenneth and we ate at Makansutra. Jeff’s friend, Benny arrived afterwards. Ate Jenneth also went with us in Universal Studios! We were supposed to go to Legoland, but it’s too hot and we thought we’ll just do it next time we visit.

I also had to report to work for two days. I brought Taglet on the first day, and the both of them on the second day. It was really hard bring all my office stuff, plus a kid and all his things, but we managed thanks to babywearing! It also helped that there’s a bus from our hotel to our office.

I also took Jeff and Taglet to the church that I used to attend to in Katong. I lived and worked in Singapore from 2008 to early 2009 and I used to attend Cornerstone Community Church. Anne, my high school friend went to SG a few years ago and I told her about the church. She’s been attending ever since and she also met her now husband, Rex there. Everyone I knew who was still there was surprised that we were there. Apparently, Anne didn’t tell anyone that we’re coming. Haha! We also went to Ikea, because Jeff has never been lolz.

It was quite an eventful trip for us. I was happy to bring my two boys to the place that used to be home for me for a while. Looking forward to our next Singapore trip!
