Tagaytay Bed and Breakfast: Lily Pond

I’m pretty sure only a few people have heard about Lily Pond in Tagaytay. This is because they just recently changed their name. It used to be Moon Garden. It is located along SVD Road, Tagaytay City. It’s right before Alveo Land’s Kasa Luntian and very near Estancia Hotel. Lily Pond or Moon Garden is undeniably my favorite place in Tagaytay. We hardly go back to a place that we’ve already visited, but we’ve been here twice — first was in March 2012 before we got married, and the next was Holy Week of 2013. I discovered Moon Garden Tagaytay through my coworker, Leslie. She told me about the moon program/activities that they do during full moon. I am obsessed with the moon. I even thought naming our first daughter Luna is a great idea. Too bad it wasn’t a full moon when we first went there. So when we planned to go there the next time, I made sure it was a full moon. I got the shock of my life when we arrived …

Throwback Thursday: Sonya's Garden

It’s Thursday! I feel like reminiscing and I’d like to post something about Jeff and I’s first out of town trip. Not so much of an out of town because it’s just in Cavite, but this was our first very far date!  Sonya’s Garden is not in Tagaytay like what other people would tell you. It is very near though. It is in Alfonso, Cavite, along Buck Estate Road. According to Google Maps, it is only 17 minutes away from the Tagaytay rotunda corner Aguinaldo Highway and Tagaytay-Nasugbo Road. Just go straight the Tagaytay-Nasugbo Road and turn right to Buck Estate Road. You have the option to take Mahogany Avenue because sometimes, traffic is really bad along the highway. Here’s a screenshot from Google Maps. Screenshot from Google Maps. Click on the photo to enlarge.  It was a Saturday and we came from my friend, Camille’s house in Bel-air in Sta. Rosa. Traffic was a bit bad going up to Tagaytay on weekends, but we were able to arrive at Sonya’s before lunch. I was …

Traveling 101

Jeff and I love traveling. We’ve been together for almost three years and some of the places that we’ve visited are Bacolod, Boracay, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Bataan, Batangas, Laguna, and Tagaytay. Next month, we’re going to El Nido! While we are young and childless, we plan to travel more. We’ve stayed in so many hotels but sometimes, we get too surprised that they don’t even have toothbrushes for their guests. As much as I love Moon Garden in Tagaytay, it is a bit disappointing that they don’t have toothbrush. Another one that doesn’t have a complete set of toiletries is Forest House in Baguio. So I’ve learned my lesson and always make sure that we have everything we need.  Here’s our stash: I always make sure that we have shampoo, conditioner (for me!), shower gel, soap that I get from the previous hotels that we visited, feminine wash, toothbrush, and toothpaste. In most cases, the hotel has toiletries but it is better to have an extra.  I also never forget my facial wash and facial …

Sonya’s Secret Garden

Today is officially our first out of town trip together. It was just supposed to be a Tagaytay trip, but Jeff suggested we go to Sonya’s Secret Garden. My friends Camille and Randie were with us too! Super fun. We arrived just in time for lunch. Mannn we were starving. Jeff was right. The food was great! For the price of Php600+ (I don’t remember the exact price because I didn’t pay haha), you get all these! Bottomless everything! Oye! Calamansi juice with mint leaves. Condiments. Green, leafy vegetables. Haha. Salad was served first. The lettuce were very fresh and crunchy. Bottomless salad condiments! Oh my! Freshly baked bread. Super yummy! You can dip it to some of the condiments served for the salad such as the pesto. And they also serve kesong puti! Eggs My share. Round 1. 😀 Pasta was served next. They also served two sauces: tomato based and cream sauce. Grilled salmon oh so yummy! Pasta sauces and toppings. Tarragon tea. Heavenly chocolate cake! I wanna go back for this! I think this is one of their specialties. 🙂 Sweet potato. I mean, sweetened sweet potato. …
