Arts Ploodle Project

Ploodle: Planner and Coloring Book in One

It was an ambitious project I conceived one September night I was sorting out my Sharpies. I never had a name. I just thought, maybe having a planner and coloring book together will be cool. So I started browsing the net and discovered that there is none of this in the Philippine market. I started working on it. I contacted a doodler friend, Reg, and told her about the project. I commissioned her to make themed doodles per month and she was very happy to do it. She asked me for a name. I said PLOODLE.

The Project

Ploodle is PLAN and DOODLE, because that’s basically what you will do with it. It is a planner and coloring book in one. Jeff joked that I should name it Plolor, because plan and color. Lelz. So I started with all my layout, and I was almost done with the half after one week. I had to fly to Singapore for one week, which slowed down my progress. No, I literally stopped working on the Ploodle because of my new work. For over a month, it stayed like that. Until I picked it up again. Now it’s with the printer and we’re waiting for the printing to finish! Shipping will start before Christmas!

The Ploodle sells at P750. Not bad for something that you will use for one year, yes? It’s 8.5″ x 8.5″, quite huge if I may say, and will be hardbound with black spring. It has 90 sheets, or 180 pages of pure coloring goodness. Not to mention that you can also color the front and back. You can place your order HERE if you want to get one for yourself. 🙂

The Partnerships

I have partnered with many mommy organizations, like South Pinanays and local WAHMS who make cloth diapers.

For South Pinanays, I will be selling the Ploodle on pre-order at P750. I pledged to give P100 for every Ploodle sold for the outreach program that we will be doing on December 12.

For the local WAHMs, I partner with about 20 of them. It just started with a conversation with Ice of Lil Koala Bear. She said that she’ll offer me a barter — one nappy for one Ploodle. Of course I said yes! Haha! But then the conversation went from barter to a collaboration. We planned to sell the Ploodle bundled up with a color me nappy. She mentioned that she can only make a few and that maybe I can ask some other WAHMs to participate. So off I sent a message to Claire of Lily and Luna (sorry, Claire! I haven’t written a review of your nappy yet, but I will!). She said that she has a lot of nappies to sew as well, but she can do a few pieces. And then I thought, maybe I can ask in a cloth diapering group if some WAHMs would like to join. From two, my collaborating WAHMs became 10. And then 12. And now, they’re 20! And so The Ploopies Collab was born.

The idea is for them to make nappies from the Ploodle designs. They picked two designs each, and I will have these custom printed locally. The Ploopie will sell from P2,000 and above, depending on the materials used by the WAHM. The group is very excited and our Facebook chat group is always active. It’s fun to be talking to so many mamas at a time!

So there’s my little ambitious and crazy project, which is driving me insane lately. Haha! I hope you can get one for yourself.

  1. I ‘ve been planning on creating a planner, too, but of a different theme. This is such a great idea. 🙂 Great thing you did there about the collaborations! 🙂

  2. Hi Joy! What a cool idea for a planner! 🙂 I actually write features and reviews of various planners on my blog (I also have an IG account dedicated to my planner addiction, @planningforpleasure). If you ever want to partner for a feature, let me know. 🙂

  3. I love the idea of it! It fits the trend right now and will surely be a hit especially those in their teenage years like me. I would just like to ask if you have a stall or any place to sell these besides through online order? A friend of mine who will be visiting manila would like to buy. I hope you could reply as soon as possible. Thank you and God bless with this project!

    1. Hello, Camille! We actually have some in Commune Cafe. They’re located at Polaris St. in Makati. You can visit them and check out the Ploodle. 🙂
